If you’re looking for a place to rest, relax and enjoy the splendor of nature, it’s hard to beat the beach. However, unless you live in a seaside cottage, visiting the beach on a daily basis might be a bit difficult. Fortunately, there are plenty of simple decorating techniques you can use in order to add a seaside look to your home, no matter where you live. If you’d like to create your own indoor seaside retreat, here are some simple decorating techniques you can use to create the perfect look.

Enjoy the Sun

Since sunshine is a natural part of visiting the beach, you’ll want to plan for adequate lighting in your seaside-inspired room. However, it’s important to remember that you’ll undoubtedly want different levels of light depending on the tasks that you’re currently engaging in. For example, a bright task light can be a handy feature when you’re attempting to work in the room. However, a much dimmer light can add the perfect touch to a relaxing evening at home. If possible, look for ways to maximize the amount of natural light in the room. Gauzy window treatments, roll-up shades and wide-open window spaces can make the most of the sun’s rays.

Seaside Themes

There are plenty of interesting and beautiful ways to add a seaside theme to a room. If you prefer a whimsical style of decorating, try adding some of your favorite souvenirs from past beach vacations. You could also use natural colors and textures to create a subtler beachside look. A combination of soft blue, tan and white can work perfectly in a seaside-themed room. Combined with natural cotton fabrics and a few touches of nature, you’ll be able to create a nautical look that will work well within your home – regardless of the rest of your home’s style.

Artistic Looks

Although natural materials and textures are a great way to add seaside appeal to a room, sometimes it can be fun to decorate with manmade art instead. Paintings and prints that depict seaside, beach or nautical themes can work well when creating the seaside look. Ocean waves metal wall art can also be used quite effectively to create a decidedly seaside look that won’t break your decorating budget. Table sculptures, tapestries, and other artistic objects can be combined with authentic natural objects to create a look all your own.

Add a Few Comfortable Touches

If you think back to times you’ve spent at the beach, chances are comfort will be part of your fondest memories. Sunning yourself on a warm beach or relaxing in a comfortable folding chair are natural parts of the seaside experience. As you plan your indoor seaside retreat, look for ways to add these same comfortable features to your room. For example, you might want to add an authentic Adirondack chair or perhaps a comfortable chaise lounge. Whichever you choose, make sure you select a style that will be a good fit for your personal preferences as well as for how you plan to use the room.

Having witnessed interior design evolve for the last 10 years, one aspect has ceaselessly been a constant; the colour black. Honestly speaking, it comes as a surprise, working as an interior designer we worship something different and bright colours. But there is something intriguing about black, it holds a a certain wow factor, it has a feeling of power, it has the ability to charm and wow you. Not to mention how flawlessly it coordinates with more or less any colour palette. Mix it with red to create warming red black curtains, blend it with silver to provide an elegant appearance, or maybe even a touch of green for a balanced look. A black curtain or bedding can provide your bedroom the ultimate compliment of beauty and desire.

Allow me to tell you why we consider black is so beautiful. Ever wonder why black is so trendy with corporate ? Its an authoritative color, its overpowering, its capable of giving you power. In your interiors black can make you gasp at first instances, black gives your interior a ‘designer factor’. Envisage a full black curtain with woven hints of metallic silver embroidery. Tordero and Balance designer curtains are newest arrivals and our individual faves. The Tordero as illustrated earlier is a pencil pleat curtain with faux silk base material decorated with a pintuck stripe for an ooohh-sooo-beautiful finish. Available in popular colours of red black curtains or black silver. From early feedback the Tordero curtains will definitely make a storm. Well we expect so!

Balance curtains in fact give you precisely what the name says. The wondeful balance of colours, with amix of black, beige, cream and brown. The harmony of a modern ring top drape with vertical stripes, contrast horizontal band and stunning heavy quality fabric. The black curtain in this range as you can imagine is our most popular.

This curtain range is the heavenly depiction for modern curtains. Black voiles are under-rated classics. Those beautiful sensual voiles create the perfect mood in every decor. If you’re still using the old normal jardinere curtains, then it’s time to change them. Voiles are constructed from a see through polyester fabric providing adequate privacy and excellent light control. Use a black voile for example with your main black curtain to form a boudoir that would be the envy of your friends. Voiles are available in rod pocket heading, tab top heading and eyelet heading. We even have a few black red eyelet voiles ( I really suggest these for a contemporary home ).

We can’t emphasise enough that black is agorgeous colour, especially if used in the right way. For the best look match your black curtain with cushions and tie backs in brave colors. For example if you employ our Tordero red black curtains, then employ a red beaded tie back and compliment your sofas with a variety of cushions in shades of red or black. ( can you picture this!? Am I beginning to drive your imagination? ) Or instead of red, have you thought of silver perhaps, or even turquoise, is reasonably great with black. Usually red black curtains could give your lounge a atmosphere of warmth and elegance. Black silver curtains gives a hint of grace and authority. Black voile enhance the wow-factor appearance if accessorized in the correct technique and sprinkle a few cushions with diverse colours on your sofa to add that hint of glamour and fun.
